Hi! I’m Becca:)

I am an intimacy choreographer based in NYC. I am interested in collaborative creative processes, community-building, and telling stories that queer the lens of how we view relationships. I have over 4 years of  training with intimacy organizations IDC, TIE, and Open Intimacy Creatives. I have 20+ years of dance and movement training. I have also trained in Physical Theater and Clown with the Accademia dell'Arte in Italy and Clown Gym in NYC. My extensive training in theater, dance, and movement heavily influence the ways I create intimacy choreography and tell intimate stories. All the small physical choices we can make (brushing hair behind an ear, touching a fingertip to a bottom lip before a kiss, etc.) tell us so much about the characters and allow the audience to learn something about the relationship.

I love to work collaboratively with directors, actors, writers, and the creative team to make suure everyone’s vision for the story is taken into account in accordance with the project and that everyone’s boundaries and comfort level are understood and respected. I see boundaries as opportunities! When someone shares a boundary with me it is an exciting prompt to make a new creative choice!

Humans are so specific and weird in the ways they show and engage in intimacy with each other…why wouldn’t we allow our characters the chance to have equally nuanced physical relationships with each other? A first kiss between two highschool students at the school dance does not look the same as a kiss on the way out the door to work between a couple that’s been together for 20 years! Let’s take the time to craft choreography and make specific choices to truthfully tell the story of these scenarios!

Some of my specialties for intimacy work include: queer stories, stories of kink, devised and new work, clown/comedic work, musicals, and Shakespeare. I am always looking for new ways to include intimacy work on a project in different genres, styles, and contexts. If you’re not sure if you need an intimacy choreographer or are wondering what it might look like on your project reach out!

My goal is to create a space where everyone feels enough agency to ask for what they need, and can therefore be the best versions of themselves in service of the storytelling.
